Weeks after Boko Haram’s devastating rampage in Garkida town in Adamawa state, the Federal Government, on Sunday provided relief materials to surviving victims.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sa’adiya Faruq, presented the materials to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
She said, “These are items that were brought after which we will sit with the State Emergency Management Agency to do the needs assessment on how we are going to move to see how to support the state government in other critical areas of social infrastructures”.
“On Monday, the Chairman of North-East Development Commission, together with the Managing Director, officials of the ministry and the State Emergency Management Agency would be moving to Garkida to deliver the items”, said.
Governor Fintiri, thanked the delegation for the gesture, assuring that his government would ensure that the materials are delivered to the affected persons.
He said, “like I said earlier, we have a good synergy with the North-East Development Commission to see how we can move in immediately to start reconstructing the affected infrastructure in the town of Garkida so that we can bring life to its status in the ancient town”.
Items brought were assortment of foodstuffs, mats and blankets.
